I am mainly a lifestyle family photographer and in the summer I also photograph a few high school seniors each year. To me lifestyle simply means that I take a relaxed approach to family portraits. While we will take one or two "smile at the camera" photos in our session, this will not be the focus of our time together. For newborn sessions this means that babies will be held and placed in natural positions in their crib or on a bed to rest and be photographed rather than posed in baskets or other artificial newborn settings. Take a look at my current portfolio for a better idea of what this looks like.
Clark County, WA is filled with beautiful locations and we will work together to determine the best choice for your family based on your interests and needs. Some families choose to have their session in and around their home.
Family sessions last about an hour. Newborn and indoor baby sessions sometimes last closer to an hour and a half to give time for feeding and comforting baby as needed. Seniors are usually between an hour and an hour and half to give time for outfit changes and a couple of different locations.
We will start our session with 1-2 posed, smile at the camera photos. The rest of the time will be spent cuddling, hugging, playing games, giving kisses and more. I will guide and direct our session so you know what to do and are able to relax and enjoy time connecting with your family.
I have two little girls of my own and I'm also an elementary educator and was previously a preschool teacher so I have A LOT of experience with kids. I know that kids are kids AND you and I will work together to make the session fun rather than a chore. When you book, I'll have a guide for you to help prepare your little ones for our time together.
Lifestyle photography is really about authenticity. This means your family doesn't need to look like they stepped out of a magazine (unless of course that's what you usually look like!). This guide might give you some helpful tips. For newborns, I highly encourage neutral or light colors and simple clothing like a sleeper.
This really depends on the season. If you are looking for a session between August and November, it's best to book by early summer.
Yes, you will receive at least 75 edited digital images from your session. I will choose the best photos from our session, edit them and deliver them via an an online gallery for viewing, sharing and downloading. You will have a print release to print the photos wherever you choose. I will also recommend a preferred printer.
If you don't want to go through the trouble of uploading your images to another company for ordering prints, you can order prints directly from your online gallery.
